The EXACT same thing happened to mine!!!! help!! What went wrong? the plant looks perfect and they are loaded with buds, but only a few bloomed and now the rest are dried up :( we have had lots of rain, i wondered if they were too wet? someone please advise. Thank you.

You did get three blooms. So that is good. Peonies don't like being moved. So it sounds like it is probably because the peony is trying to settle in to its new home. It should do better next year.

I just came in from out in the garden to look on this site to see why mine did the same thing! I moved them this spring and they look wonderful but the buds which were small are black and dead. One of them gave me two flowers but the rest are all dead. Amy

Early last spring, I did a major division of the daylilys that were in the same bed as my peony. I must have gotten too close to the peony when I was digging b/c when the peony came up in the spring and put out its buds they never bloomed. Just like you, the plant looked wonderful with many buds but they never flowered. In July I removed the dead buds and otherwise I left the plant alone.

This spring it is back to normal. The blooms were gorgeous! Unfortunately the heat wave hit us and instead of a 2 week show, I had a 2 day show. SO I have to agree with Amulet.... give it time to adjust :)

I didn't even move mine and they look burnt to a crisp. The foliage is still healthy-looking so I wonder if nipping off the buds will do anything?
