Peony leaves yellowing - why?

My 15 year old clump does not look good at all this year. The leaves are yellowing. The clump did not grow to its usual height. It did not produce as many blooms either. I fed it with manure last fall. What's going wrong?

Cricket manure with a mixture of bone meal, etc. . Got it from Brent & Becky's bulbs.

It is probably the things you added that turned the leaves yellow. I have discovered that peonies don't need much, if any, fertilizer. I put Miracle-Gro fertilizer on my peonies several times last year, and it turned the leaves yellow, too! I haven't used any fertilizer on them this year, and they are now back to normal.
