I am planning to make a border edge around my dwarf Pear Tree enough space for a 6 different varieties of Itoh, Herbeceous and Japanesse Tree Peony. The location will receives full sun exposure for about 8-9 hours. Distance between the pear tree from the trunk will be about 3 feet. Do you think the peonies will grow and blooms well in this location? I have read that peony should not be planted near a tree or shrubs but just wanted to know from your experienced how well they compete with trees or shrubs near by.

You must have a good reason for selecting that planting site. I would not plant that close to your pear tree. I know it is a dwarf, but I still think it is too close. Al
