Uonuma Red Peony

Does anyone know any info about this peony...Uonuma Red Peony?

I checked Carsten's website and there is no such peony listed there.

I did find that there is a city in Japan called Uonuma.

I bought it for $3 at the local Canadian Tire last week reduced on clearance. The only other info about it on its tag is...

-Deep, double red variety from Japan.
-Long-lived, outstanding as a cut flower.
-Use peony rings or stakes to prevent heavy blooms from bowing to the ground.
-Zone 3
-part sun
-mature size 3' tall x 2' wide.

I am quite willing to return it to Canadian Tire if need be.

At that price why return it? Even if it turns out to be white with brown spots you still should have a plant to pat yourself for thrifty buying. I do think I know which one it is. I will check my sources I think all that is wrong is a variation of spelling.

OK, I admit I was wrong I could not find your peony. I was thinking to hard. But I still think there should be another part of the name such as Shin, Nishi. Onogame was the one I was thinking of but not same flower.

You might ask the store for their suppliers telephone number or have them call to ask the history of the plant.

We receive very few of the herbaceous Japanese developed plants in this country. Many tree peonies but not regular plants. Hopefully whoever is importing will be importing more of the Japanese peony plants. If you find out any additional information please post.

Definately keep the plant if the style is anything like the tree peonies from Japan it should have a great form and look good in the garden the whole year.
