Had to transplant peonies today...

My neighbor has decided to build a deck right over his peony beds and offered them to me, but I had to take them today. The weather has been fairly cool of late and today was actually good conditions for the job ie: it was overcast and the sun didn't peek out until almost 5:00pm. What do you think the chances are that they will survive? One, a double red was in fill bloom already. The others are pink, I think, but can't tell yet whether they will be doubles or not... they have flower buds just about ready to open. Do you think I'll still be able to enjoy the flowers this year, or will I lose them?

I also have several large root sections which broke off. I haven't planted these yet, but rather put them in a bucket of water. I plan on planting them tomorrow. Should I bother with these, or will they just rot?

Thanks for your help!
