Seeds on my Itoh peony

I was removing empty seed heads, and one of my Itoh peonies (Garden Treasure) had three big red seeds.

Are they unripe? I had to remove them because I had pulled the seed pod off.

Do a search for planting instructions and plant. There have been reports that some do have viable seeds but most have dismissed it as rumor. Generally the seeds are ripe if the pod is open but since you have removed the pod go for it. Some growers plant the seeds before they turn dark and state they have better germination.

OK, I will do that! The seeds are big and plump, but I guess I won't expect too much if seeds aren't normally viable.

Good to hear that GT can set seed.
Let us know if seeds sprout roots.
