This year I planted (and got small blooms on) Philippe Rivoire and Kelway's Glorious. PR has a WONDERFUL fragrance and a marvelous deep burgundy-purple color and deep red new foliage (reddish stems later in the summer). KG has a lovely flower, but I didn't notice any fragrance; nice crisp foliage. Most of my peony plants are immature, planted within the past year, so I'm looking forward to good bloom in a year or two. I'll keep PR and KG - too lovely to give away.

From your list I'm able to comment only on D. de N.

Tall, 30"+, maybe 36", huge flowers double or bomb type, definitely need support, 3-4 side buds on each stem, but you have to remove at least the top two, otherwise stem can't support so many flowers. Fragrance is very light.

If all side buds removed from the stem early in a season you may have something huge like this:

After some additional consideration, I've narrowed down my choices to Philip and Florence; I think that they would make a good team - one Philip on either side of Florence.

I'll probably add P. Officianalis "Rubra Plena" - otherwise known as the "Memorial Day" rose. My mother grew it and often used it as a cut flower. It was a gift from her mother and now my daughter is carrying on the tradition, as she has this plant in her garden.

So I'll add this third peony in another area of the garden and will probably be seeking another interesting peony that would serve as both a cut and fragrant addition to the garden.

Any additional suggestions would be generously appreciated.
