New planting

I received a large bag of peonies from a friend. I planted all the ones with eyes and still had a quantity of tubers with no eyes. I planted them anyway two to three inches deep and am looking for advice on what to expect from them. Will they develop eyes or just rot over time? Thanks!

It really depends on the variety, some peonies will develop eyes from just sections of root. Think it's called adventeous roots or something, know I murdered the spelling but there was a string about it last fall or so. I've had several peonies that I moved from bad spots pop up again from just segments of root that broke off, though, so I know it can happen!
