If you bought them on line a month ago, I presume they were bare root and you potted them up when received. Now I would keep them in a sheltered place until at least another month before planting in the garden to allow them to establish roots in the pots before transplanting. I would plant them about four inches deeper than they are now trying not to disturb the roots already established. I would be pleased and surprised if they bloomed in the next two years. Al

That's right. They were bare root and I put them in the pots. My worry is about the shoots from the root are actually not the tree poeny but just herbaceous peonies, while I realy want the peony tree.
