Baby intersectional peony

Hi, I am brand new to GW and peonies/gardening and apologize if this question has been answered before.

With some misgivings I recently planted a tiny intersectional peony (4" container) in the ground. It is a miniature plant with two green stalks/leaves and two eyes, I assume tissue cultured? I dug a hole 2 x 2ft filled with top soil amended with compost, bone meal, and peat moss.

Based on whatever I could find online I left the little guy at the original soil line in the pot - the eyes and ?top of root are exposed. Whenever the weather cooperates it will get full sun from max 10am to 3pm.

In this case should I cover the root and/or eyes (with soil or leaves maybe?) in anticipation of colder temperatures? Are potted peonies generally planted with the eyes exposed? Lastly, is this still too much sun for this little plant? I'm worried that moving it right now would be too traumatic.

Thanks so much!
