Foliage Question

| I've got a pretty pink peony in a shady, sheltered, zone 8 location. It's still got lush green foliage, and it's October already! It's an underground peony, not a tree-type.
What does it mean that there's still green foliage? Hopefully it means it's time to dig and divide, because I'd like a few more of these beauties.

| The fact that the foliage is still green in your location is not unusual, many of mine are too. For yours to be planted in a shady sheltered area is not the best for peony which should be in full sun and not protected from the weather as it will need sufficient winter chill to bloom well next year. I would not plan on taking divisions until your peony has had at least three blooming seasons. Al |
