Hi there, Princess! I've used hoops as well but what works best for me is the tall wire "fence" with which I encircle the peony in the spring as it emerges. Here's a pic of it....

i grow in sand .. and i dont fert ...

mine are not the prettiest of plants... but they rarely fall over ... and when they do.. so be it ...

so dont fert them to kingdom come ... IMHO ... and you might avoid some of the hassle ...

otherwise.. i have no opinion on specific supports ...

BTW .... i dont know the size you got.. but it might not be an issue next season ... they may need a season or two.. to settle in.. and gain vigor ... become ESTABLISHED

Hi, Ken! You already know I don't fertilize anything....except the odd special hosta (like my USA streakers ;-)...it's the heavy flower heads I need to support so the rain doesn't beat them down to the ground. I have 12 peonies ... I'd have to move to Michigan if I fertilized them! Lol lol
