Is it too late to plant in zone 5/6

Assuming I'm able to make up my mind this weekend, is it too late to plant peonies in zone 5/6? I am guessing any order I placed this weekend would take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive, so I'm looking at the end of October for planting.

I'm no expert gardener but if it makes you feel better I'm planting some peonies this weekend in zone 5. I don't think it's too late at all. We shall see..........

I just received some peonies Friday and put them in the ground yesterday. I would assume if the zone/timing is incorrect they will not ship them - that is if it is a reputable place. Or make sure they have a good replant policy if they don't make it you can try again next fall only earlier.

You can plant peonies any time the ground is workable. If really late December-January in northern hemisphere you should put a thick but light layer of mulch to prevent heaving and being dug up by animals.
