How to store rootstock for a few months?

I received a dozen bareroots and my new house isn't finished yet. I probably won't be able to put in the gardens til January. My question, should I pot up the roots in potting soil (I have an abundance of 5gal buckets)and set them outside or keep them in peat moss in my garage? Thanks

I would pot them up and keep them outside. They will stay dormant and in better condition than kept in peatmoss. Al

Thanks for your suggestion calistoga. I decided instead to go out and purchase 10 bags of soil conditioner to make a temporary "bed" and heeled the roots in until I can put them in there permanant homes.
