| saw new red eyes poking up out of the ground when they cut down their peonies this fall? I couldn't believe it last weekend! There were definitely new red eyes peeking up out of the ground. I live in zone 4 Wisconsin. What is going on?

| That's normal for me Mary Lu. I don't know what anyone else will say, but I can always see the eyes when I cut down in the Fall and they always bloom the next year. |

| I'm so glad to hear that that's normal. I don't usually cut down my peonies until Spring, but this year I had powdery mildew so I cut them down in early September. Now I'm seeing some red eyes....and was wondering. I thought it was the unseasonably warm weather we were having. ;-D Mary Lu, thanks for posing the question. And thanks, Jackie, for answering. | Yes, Jackie thank you for your response. I have not cut them back in fall before either and this surprised me. I did not expect to see the eyes in fall. But sounds like it is "normal?" Mary Lu |
