get a bag at walmart or something. you don't need much to fill the lil seed starting trays. and by the time they're ready to transplant, your preferred store will be open.

Promix BX you its what all the greenhouses use. Its readily available from most nurserys . Buy it in 3.8 qu yd bags its compressed . If you buy it in smaller bags its not your paying alot more being loose I think probably twice as much. Mix it with course perlite 3 to 1 this will prevent over watering if you get heavy rains.1 cup lime/ qu ft and your good to go. I swear by this mix and have always had good luck with this mixture.I purchased a 2000 lb bag of bark mix years ago that was good too but I think the Promix/Perlite is better. They commercially use Bark mix for perennials because its cheaper then using Perlite But I would still ad lime. A lot of flowers are lime intolerant so they don't add it to any mixes. peppers need it. It sets the PH at 7.0 and provides the Ca you need for good fruit set . Those big black bails you see stacked outside of greenhouses is Promix. If you see some you could just stop and ask if they will sell you some. If your growing outside add the perlite its not super cheep but its verry effective

The famed 5-1-1 mix(for me, it's modified a tad), didn't do too well for me the last year, but this past season some of my best performers were in it. I still haven't been able to grow a well performing ANNUUM in it though. Had an Anaheim in it and though it started off with some pretty impressive pods, it tuckered out later in the season. I may have to up the container size for them, though. All of my superhots did excellent in it but they were in 10 gallon pots(as opposed to the Anaheim - 5 gal)

If you don't mind feeding once a week, it's a damn good mix. The problem is finding the components of the mix and at a decent price. Very little degradation from year to year, so it looks like it will last for many seasons to come.
