Big Jim's grow like any other Anaheim pepper, just larger than most. It's hard to tell from your pic and it looks like just the beginning of a pod, but at first glance, it doesn't appear to be an Anaheim. Too round and globular at this point and the lobes don't scream Anaheim either. But like I said, it's the beginning of a pod. Shapes can change. The calyx at this point doesn't look right either.

Time will tell though. Another 2-3 weeks and the pod will definitely be more defined. Take a pic then.

It actually looks like a chinense variety at this point.

The ridges on this pepper dont look like a Big Jim to me.

I was disappointed with that pepper when I grew it five years ago. 9 out of 10 buds turned yellow and dropped without making fruit, while my cayennes, habs and bolivians thrived.

The pods don;t look like BJ to me either !!
They loo more like some super hots ?

Yep, something is going on but still early to tell.

Agreed with Kevin on posting a couple of follow-up pics in a couple of weeks, maybe include a close-up of a flower and pods.

Also: if the flower has green or mustard colored markings, then it definitely isn't a Big Jim.

Big jim and pequin peppers

I have been growing the big Jim's wither the pequin peppers but they don't fit the description on the seed packets any info you can give me would be appreciated. New to this..

I grow BJ's every season - excellent peppers. BTW - definitely not a BJ'S in the photo.
