3 cotyledon leaves (bhut jolokia )

Hi all, I searched the forum and this topic was deleted. How rare is it for a bhut or any other pepper to have 3 cotyledon leaves? Will this phenomena make the seedling less viable? Last year I couldn’t get any bhuts to germinate, this year two out of three planted sprouted, and “two out of three ain’t bad”.

Don't know how common it is. But the bottom line is this: It happens. Not a problem for the mature plant.

The mutant plant is now growing a trinity of first true leaves, hope this heralds a triple yield!

You should have nothing to worry about. The first leave are lony to help with food as the plant grows so the more the better. They will help the plant grow stronger fast and yield more fruit.
