need advice, problem with fertilizer and algae

my plants (indoors, mostly tomato and pepper plants) started to get pretty big so I started using a liquid MG fertilizer, along with small amounts of epson salt.

What I have noticed is, two of my pepper plants, both Hot Hungarian Wax, have what I thought to be green mold on the top of the dirt (peat pots). However, the more I got to looking into things, it appears that Algae growth is highly promoted with the use of fertilizers.

I will post pics soon, however if this is algae, will it spread to other plants, damage the plants, etc?

should i leave it, scrape it off, use a water peroxide mix?
