Where do you get that many habs for 64 cents?

A store called "Ingles", my local grocer. also picked up some ginger root and raw horseradish too !!

At my local store about 9 orange habs cost three dollars. Looks like you got a good buy.

Turned out great !! about to sprinkle them on some pizza !!! Well I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but there is a large Hispanic population here. Habs are everywhere around here, perhaps driving the price down.

Yes, I am sure the availability is a big reason for the price. But they may have been a batch that was getting a bit old so the store just bottomed out the price to get rid of them. But, for dried peppers that wouldn't matter. The flakes look great but I would start slow with putting it on pizza. Even though habs are not in the "Super Hot" category, they are still awfully hot, at least by my standards.

At Publix (overlaps range with Ingles and has higher veg prices) habs are about $4 a pound. There are a LOT of habs in a pound. I really don't need to grow any.

Yah, but what's the fun in that? No planting, no watering, no fertilizing, no stressing out. But most of all, you can't watch 'em grow.

Habs have a nice(much hotter than all but the superhots) kind of heat -- I just don't care too much for the flavor. TOLERANCE to heat comes with just about any chile except the superhots.

While I can envision people developing tolerance to superhots, I can't envision ANYBODY chomping down on one and feeling little pain, no matter how experienced.

According to scoville ratings, the superhots(around 1 million) are around 3-5 times hotter than an habanero. I, myself, don't abide by this formula.

The habs and superhots are many worlds apart when it comes to pain. The initial flavor of a Naga is so much better than a hab also-- then the PAIN comes and you can't even focus on TASTE.
