Maybe your destine for a super hot summer this year

80 should be fine. I set my thermostat at 83 but I can germinate with good results down to room temps at 65-75. I would not go much over 85 though. Pretty much the same for all varieties.
Were most of the lower success seeds in one area of the 72 cell chamber? If so, I would look more at a problem with too much/too little moisture in those cells. Usually the super hots are tougher to get to germinate and they usually take a couple days longer than the others. However, the ones you listed as "normal" are really not all that normal. Not sure if I have ever even heard of any of them before. But that isn't saying much as I have only been growing peppers for 3-4 years and there are literally hundreds if not thousands of varieties out there.
I would start replanting right away unless you got enough to germinate to be happy with.

Thanks guys. You might be onto something Bruce. Most of the successful sprouts were towards the middle of the chamber.

Hehe, I only said "normal", because they can be eaten without threat. These are new to me too, rainbow chile seeds had a lot that sounded interesting.

I am all done with pepper germination this year.
I also tried to stay around 85F (+/- few degrees). Everything worked well. Though they might germinate at lower temps but I loose patience. 6 to 8 days had been my average.

Yes, Chemillo, I find that the outer cells in my grow trays tend to do worse than the inner cells. Here is a photo of my tomato starts. Notice how the center container did better than the rest. And this is on a heat mat at 75 degrees...seems tomatos like it a little lower than peppers. I had the thermostat for the heat mat in the center container. Maybe I should start putting it into one of the perimeter containers.
