Shorter than bells but wider. I wouldn't worry about it, really. If anything, you may want to space it a little farther that what you do the bells.

I agree with Kevin. Also, you will be growing an "Orange" Habanero which is the traditional one. There are peach, red, and I think chocolate varieties. Probably several more. But I think if they want hot, you should grow them a Ghost pepper or Carolina Reaper or Trinidad Scorpion. Something in the higher heat range. You wouldn't want to dissapoint them. If you wan seeds for some of the "really" hot ones, PM your address and I will send you a few seeds. Good luck,
Here is a photo of an Orange Habanero that I grew three years ago. It is in a 16" pot for size reference. The photo was just before the end of the season...probably 100 peppers still on it at the time. Habaneros are typically very good producers.

My hottest pepper is going to be habanero. The next will be probably a Thai, down on to jalapeno after a few in between, Further down to sweet stuff.
It wasn't too long ago that I though Habanero is the HOTTES pepper.on Earth(grin)

Yeah, I had planned on giving it more real estate, just didn't know about the location.

Haha, we go goose hunting together every year, he's used to disappointment. The seedlings are already growing indoors so he's getting those for sure. A more interesting variety may be cooler though and I'll stick these in a pot or something. I'll PM you Bruce, if I can ever figure out how to do it.

Yes, I think Habs are hot. But not super hot. If you are going, then go all the way.

For the record, a raw Jalapeno is HOT to me.
