Looks like you have the answer...yeah, the Turface MVP is the stuff.
I'll be adding Turface to my container mix this year, as well.

Where do you purchase your Turface and how much of it do you add to a 5-1-1 mix? Does it replace any of the other ingredients or do you just add it to the regular 5-1-1?

Bruce: it's a replacement to the peat.

By the way, I noticed as I was looking for it that it seems to be common with companies that deal with sports field maintenance.

Yah, they have a suppliers locator on their site and it looks as if the stuff is designed for ball fields and such. There is one of those JohnDeerelandscaping outfits about an hour away. Also another supplier about same distance. It looks to me that it is probably normally sold in bulk. I am wondering if it comes in bags and if they will sell to individuals or just businesses. I guess I will have to call tomorrow or the next day.

Any company that deals with turf - sports fields, high schools, golf courses - should carry Turface MVP. I purchase at a place called Sierra Turf Supply, and the bags cost about $13.

The last time I used Turface in the 5-1-1, I actually used half a part of Turface and half a part of potting mix to make one whole part of the "peat" component.
