Leaves turning white and falling off

Hi everyone!

I am completely new to chilli growing (and growing in general) and have some problems growing my young new chillies (they germinated about 3 weeks ago).

I have 4 different varieties - orange habaneros, aji crystal, bhut jolokia and boliwian rainbow.

About a week ago leaves on my habanero plants started turning white and soon fell off, other plants looked fine at that time. After googleing I learned that this might be due to plants getting sunburns (I put them outside the day before this started happening, on a nice sunny but not hot day). They are indoors again since.

However, now my other plants started acting funny and getting pale and yellowish. All, except bolivian rainbow that looks fine and is growing well.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Looks like sunburn to me.

If you start hardening off, they need to be out for 30 minutes to one hour the first day and then gradually move up from that. I started at 30 minutes and increased the duration by 30 minutes per day every day until they were out full time.

If they haven't been out in the sun, how is your watering schedule?

Yeah, they've been out in a quite strong spring sun for couple of hours for their first time so it's probably that. Although some varieties took it better than others, but show some signs of it with a delay (if it's the same cause).

I'm lightly watering when the soil looks dry half way down the cup (I can see from the side of the transparent cups I'm using).
