AFAIK, all peppers do well in containers - depending on what else you put in the containers. And I've killed a few with malpractice despite good intentions.

Some of my peppers are doing well and others - of the same variety - are doing not so well. Don't draw a conclusion from a small sample.

My thai last year did great in a 5 gal bucket, while other varieties not so well. I've decided to go with a bit bigger container this year.

Don't take what I say as gold though. I've seen some pretty impressive pics on GW in just 3 gal pots.

DMForcier, I thought I am the only one who did "malpractice" here. To learn something new I did a lot of unusual things.

I have grown Thai Birds Eye in the containers they are still very young. I hope they will be ok.

One thing I've thought of is smaller containers but rich soil regularly amended - kind of like a half way between traditional and hydroponic....

Welp - i need to take inventory, see how many can fit into beds, and how many are left over for container experiments....I guess I'll try to put a variety in containers and the ground, rather than dividing by variety, and see what all happens.

That's what I'm doing. I've got several varieties in ground, in different size containers, and in different grow media, and different ferts(organic and synthetic). At the end of it all, I'll have more info for future seasons.
