Yes, common. Problem, no. Some people like to snip buds, bloom and pods while the plants are still growing in hopes of allowing the plant to put the energy into growing mass during that stage. I don't bother.

But if you planted your Morugas in Mid May and they are already 5" tall, then I don't think you have anything to worry about. They are the fastest growing peppers in the world. Most won't even germinate that quickly.
