Find a good potting soil. Make sure you have enough perlite mixed in for good drainage. When transplanting make sure the soil is just 2-3 inches lower than the top of your container and your soil should be a little higher on the stem then when you transplanted so there are no roots showing and for stability. Also I would use a stick or two of bamboo or whatever to help support it when heavy winds come. Very important! Hope that settles it for ya. Good luck!

Also if you want a bigger yield start pulling those peppers and flowers off to focus the energy back into growing. You will be a happy camper to see how much bigger the plant is before you have fruit on it. I guess that's just how I like to do things. Bigger plant more peppers. That's not always the case though

Use at least a 3 gallon pot and 5 gallon would be better. You may want to disrupt the root ball a bit if it is severly root bound so that the plant will send out new roots outward. If you don't, the plant will have trouble breaking out of the shape it is in currently. Like stated by Morugaman, use well draining soil and if the plant is still small, you may want to consider snipping some of those early pods.

I've been reading good things about Mycorrhizae Fungi. It bonds to the roots and improves water and nutrient uptake. My nurseryman recommended Happy Frog Jump Start. It also includes Calcium (much needed by peppers) and other microbes for soil health. Best applied directly to the roots when potting up.

MG, for instance, sells Potting Soil and Potting Mix. Don't use the soil. (And don't even think about "garden soil".)

Also go large as you can on the pot. Scorpions can be huge.

DMForcer. Are you saying that potting soil is a bad choice? If so I F'd up. I mean it's working and my plants look great but dang it all.

Well, it's not a "poor" choice, but the mix is a better choice.
