Mucho Nacho issues

Hey guys,

I am new here and pretty new to planting peppers. I am hoping someone can help me out.

My Mucho Nacho plant has all these little white spots on it. They are all over the leaves and they kind of swarm the young buds/blossoms too. I tried to attach a picture if that helps. These buggers make the whole plant kind of sappy/sticky. I have a couple peppers that are looking pretty good and almost to a point where I can harvest, but I am not sure if they will be safe to eat?

Do any of you guys know what this problem is, and how I can treat it?

Thanks!
MB

You got aphids all over your plant the white is the shedded skin. Get rid of them. First try soap and warm water spray it down good and the underside of the leaves. Make sure to rinse off after applying with just plain water. Usually early morning or late evening treat. The soap mix when the sun is out will do damage if left on the plant.

Also here is a link to a GW thread on aphids.

Here is a link that might be useful: Aphids

Yep, that is a bad infestation of aphids. Habjolokia has the solution for dealing with them. But if that doesn't work, you may have to go with a stronger non-organic solution. The insecticidal soap worked for me.

Yup, aphids. They're not at the "nuke 'em from orbit" stage yet (gasp, Edy isn't advocating the white glaze? The horror!), so the gentler solutions like insecticidal soaps should be sufficient.

Awesome, thank you all for your help! I will try to rinse the plant thoroughly with soap first, and if that doesn't work I'll look at the insecticidal soaps.

and just to be sure....detergent is not soap.

I rinsed my plants this weekend as you guys suggested and the infestation seems to be a lot better, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks!

My question now is - are the fruit that were already on the plant during the infestation safe to eat, if I wash them thoroughly?

They should be fine as long as they are not damaged. Washing them thoroughly is a good idea to get rid of any left over bugs and any insecticide treatments if you used anything other than water.
