howdy. I grow them, I also grow red and purple, but I have to say the golden's are my favorite. Yep, they are warmer but they have great flavor. and they are very productive even in OK temps.

How are the purple in comparison to the golden? Next year I'm going to be a little more careful with most of my plants. The majority had a rough start when I *thought* things were hardened off fine, but I was wrong, so they were stunted a little then... then a late frost in may kind of set them back a little more. But seeing at how many pods these things sit, this early it's truly amazing at what pepper plants can live through and still be one of the biggest producers I have right now.

hi ab2008, honestly, I do not like the purple. I don't think they have much flavor, and interestingly, they are supposed to be the hottest, (at least the info that I could find on them years ago) but to me they are very mild. They have a gorgeous fruit, and are very prolific, but I much prefer the golden over both the red and purple.

haha, I got one even better. I had one plant that I didn't need to collect seeds, and honestly, it wasn't looking very good, so I cut it off at ground level (on top of that, it's in a 1 gal pot vs the 5 gal all the others are in). Well, it's been in the 90's for a few weeks, I have not watered it once in about 2-3 wks, dang if I didn't pass by it a couple of days ago and the little stump is covered in green leaves... well, I'm watering it now, how can I not after it's gone so far to convince me it should live. ;-)
