The fines........

the mini nuggets......??

Normally I would say the "FINES" before looking at the photos. However, the fines look more like finely shredded bark/wood. The mini nuggets look very good but that depends on the size of the nuggets. The nuggets should be generally in the 1/8" to 1/2" size range. Maybe photos with a known object for size reference would help. Usually people drop a dime or quarter on the top of the nuggets before shooting a photo. Also, make sure there is very little wood pulp in the mix. Some are listed as "bark" but contain mostly ground up wood which is bad.

Yeah, I wish I could put a dime on the pile for size reference, but these pictures were copied and pasted in here from the vendor's website. I hear what you are saying and I will keep that in mind when I go over there after work today.

Oh, if those were vendor pics just be careful. Many times the pictures do not match the actual product. Make sure you check it out personally before you drag a dozen bags home to find out it isn't what was in the picture.

Bruce is right...got to see the product.
For the 5-1-1, you would be well-served to incorporate some of both products. You want a nice range of particles from fine dust on up to 1/2 inch.

Just went there. The mini nuggets look more like landscaping wood chips (some up to 1.5" across) so that's out.

The fines looked really good. They only sell that in 1/2 cubic yard, so I have to bring in a bunch of garbage bags tomorrow and fill 'em up.
