Personally I would put it back into a smaller pot for now, but yes I would move to the center of the pot while it is still very small. What is it?

I'd leave it. If you can't help yourself, wait until it has a set of true leaves, dig down and around about 4 inches and scoot over.

Alright thanks. It is a mirasol (guajillo) chile. Out of curiosity will transplanting (or in this case scooting it over) cause the plant to grow more slowly?

If you scoop out a big amount of the potting mix without disturbing the roots, there shouldn't be any shock.

Great variety btw. How big is that pot? In smallish pots(5 gal) I've noticed that large fruited annuums like Guajillo tend to tucker out(smaller pods) after the 1st flush(harvest).

Yup. I did this with one of my in-grounds with a shovel..no shock..full of pods!

Thanks for all the great advice. Its a standard 8 inch terracotta pot, so I hope it will be alright.

What Josh said. But in the end i won't make a significant difference. The roots have a mind of their own.
It might just look lop sided (visual)

Here's an update of the plant. It has a lot more foliage on it and is of course taller now.Should I move it to the center now, or should I wait a little bit?

At this point, I'd just let it be. It's roots don't really care where in the pot it is...they'll colonize the whole thing.

I would leave it unit it is time to move it to a new pot altogether.

I would set it another 4-5 weeks and dump it in a large(5gal)
and let it rock on
