My guess would be some Hungarian Wax pepper seed got mixed in.

I think they should eventually change color. So when that happens you can tell that the size is it. But as far as harvesting, I would harvest peppers at any stage for daily use. They will be more tender and milder. Peppers are not like, say, tomatoes that got to get ripe.

Those look mighty similar to the HHWax that I am growing at the moment...

I found something similar on google, a yellow mini bell. Does that look like a possibility? I have seen some of the hh wax peppers, and mine are a bit fatter and less pointed than what I have seen. I am not ruling that out yet, but since it came from a mixed bell packet, I thought maybe the odds are good that it is in fact a mini bell. However, I leave It to you all as the experts, as I am certainly far from one. :)

Yep. A possibility. I bought a pony pack of mixed colored bells one time and a couple of them were definitely of the mini variety. Yours has the definitive lobes of bells also. Though slightly elongated fruit.

They are growing upright like a HHW, however, they dont seem to be quite the right shape. Size is hard to tell in the picture. But the shape does look more like a mini bell type to me. But I think they generally grow pendant and not upwards. I think you may have to wait for some more growth to tell for sure.

In terms of ripeness, have they changed color from the original bright green? Have they stopped getting bigger over time?

If so, try one. They'll be edible even when immature. Leave the next "ripest" one on the plant until it starts to soften. Then you'll know that's as far as it can go.

I don't know what it is, but some people got bad eyes here. This pepper is blocky, not conical like a Hungarian hot wax. So it looks nothing like it.

Most certainly not a Hungarian Wax.

I think JAY has the genuine fine HHW. I am growing some from seeds and the other day I bought a nice plants (at $1.99. you cannot beat that deal). My own are fruiting already but I can always use more HHW.

I'd also bet that it's still a Bell type.

No idea if it's an intentional / un-intentional F1 hybrid though.
