I have a hot chili red pepper plant for the first time this year. It has two fairly large peppers on it that have been the same size and color (green) for several weeks now - maybe 5 weeks or so. They show not a hint of turning red. Does it take a while for these to turn once they stop growing? Anything I should be on the lookout for?

I have never really timed it, but, it does take a while to turn. Particularly early in the year. I don't know if it's weather / temp related or just plant maturity. If you give them time, they will eventually turn.

Yeah, they'll sit there green for what feels like forever, and then usually flash through to red inside of a week once it starts. The pepper grows to full size, the seeds mature inside the pod, then the pod changes color. Don't worry, it'll happen, and it'll seem like it happens all at once.
