Overwintered Hab Dying in pot

I have an overwintered habanero that is dying. First year overwintering but the Bhut is good and producing well. This was put into a larger pot but I did not trim any root growth, just sort of scrunched it up a bit as it was pretty root bound.

In the larger pot, first it's much too wet and it won't dry out. I know the pine chips were not the best choice and contain some sapwood for sure as some of my plants are lacking nitrogen, others are fine. Tried a weak fert to try and save it, no help. It keeps getting worse and worse. Do you agree it's the water? Should I repot it in fresh soil and ensure to eliminate the sapwood? I really regret leaving my overwinters in pots. They are doing nowhere as well as the chamber container system I have setup. Any advice appreciated!
