Anyone use misters?

Conditions here in the summer are often in the nineties with little to no humidity. We are currently receiving a healthy dose of humidity from a monsoonal flow from Mexico and Arizona, the foliage on my plants have never looked better.

I am considering installing a few misters around the garden area to use when the air is super dry. I am on a secondary water system so I will have to run a regulator and filter. Pay the same if I use one or one thousand gallons, but I try to conserve as much as possible, being on the edge of the desert.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. I am wondering how many per cubic yard, how to best place them. Do you think the hard water would create a problem with mineral build up? Water softener with the filter? How often/long would I have to run them for it to have any real benefit?

Thanks for any advice.
