Peter Pepper Porn (dont open at work)

Pick up a batch at the farmers market. The farmer was selling them to customers as Habaneros. I set him straight.

It seems his dealer F'd him over. I Guess we are not the only ones to get seeds from a species we didn't order.

He was also selling Pepperdew but they looked more like Padron. I did not buy any.

I am shocked. Shocked! at what they will allow people to post on public forums where children may be in the room.

    .

Have you had one in your mouth yet?

    Yes, but I never swallowed.

Lots of seeds. Plenty for trade later.

You guys are too funny. That's why I love this board.

On a serious note. They do taste good and I plan to dry some out for powder and use a few in some dishes.

EW! EW! EW! EW! EW!!! DMF and Ronny you both need your mouths washed out with soap!!!

I have had several people tell me that Peters are much better than jalapenos, they say they have good flavor but the best part is that they have a very consistent heat. I know that mixed with serranos and bird peppers they make a good sauce.

Pam, it sounds like you swallowed. Sorry, I just couldn't pass it up.

Funny, I thought the peppers would be redder than that.

    Orekoc,

They are very red. The pictures are just not that great. It is an old camera.

I bought some Peter Pepper seeds and did not get one of them to come up. The guy that sold them to me is no longer in business. I guess what goes around ,comes back around.
I was going to jar some of them and give them out for gifts.

hahaha. Yep, I grow the orange too. I was going to post a pic of it, but forgot. I like the orange the best. From what I have experienced, my orange ones always produced the biggest fruit, and they have are a very pretty shade of orange.

It always seems to be about the biggest fruit. I guess the little ones are just not as satifying.

    Very nice looking fruit Pam.

Well, I walked right into that one didn't I.

Thanks. I'll post one of my oranges this evening when I get home (that is if my flaky internet is up... the joys of living in the country ;-)).

    Anyone growing chocolate peters?

If so we need to find an albino variety and do some comparisons...

I think most of us can figure out how they would compare.

but honestly, I have seriously thought about trying to breed a chocolate variety. Maybe do a pasilla to a yellow or orange peter (I have read that red is dominant so maybe get a non-red variety).

Pam,those are some nice peppers you got there. They would look good in a jar with all the differ colors. I have wonder myself if a chocolate type could be made.Never ate one before, but I am going to try to grow them again.I was lucky to have got one seed to grow out of the ones I bought. The pepper is a female pepper. I hope to get seeds from it.

Very Nice Pam. You seem to know your Peters well.

If anyone could create a Chocolate Peter, I say you have the best shot at it. ")

Sorry about the orange peter photo. I cut the photo down a couple of times trying to get it smaller, but it wouldn't paste in smaller.

hmmm, not sure how to take that last post Ronny (not sure if I trust you ;-) I'm trying to find the hidden innuendo. ;-) Hahaha. I've been threatening to try to create one for years. But that is a LOT of work. I admire those who have the stamina to come up with crosses and grow them out generation after generation... but then again I've got a pasilla plant out in the garden right now. ;-)

Ronny, I hear it is more about the girth of the pepper than the length.

I was always told it was not how big but how you use it that matters.

My EX told me to give her nine inches and make it hurt.

So, I boinked her 3 times and punched her in the face.

the seeds sent to me as red peters are currently turning brown, and they're huge. pictures soon.

and my wife is not at all surprised that the peters I'm growing are much bigger than normal.
