Bell pepper or some kind of hot pepper?

I've never posted here before and I don't know if this is where my question belongs but I bought this bell pepper plant from my universities farm. Thing is it doesn't look like a bell pepper to me, so if it isn't a bell pepper then what could it be?

You're in the right place. Welcome!

Definitely not a bell pepper. Could be another sweet or "merely warm" variety. A picture of the whole plant would help, but with 3500+ varieties exact ID is going to be tough.

A bite test could be useful. How brave are you? ;)

Like DMForcier: I say give it a taste. That will rule out bell pepper if there is any heat at all. But my guess is Pepperoncini maybe. If so, it will have some heat, but very little. I would also venture to guess that if it isn't a Pepperoncini that it is still relatively mild.

Disclaimer: I am an uneducated novice pepper grower and have no formal knowledge or training in identifying pepper plants and I am certainly not a Horticulturist, Botanist or any other ******ist. I just act like it. Taste at your own risk and let me know how my guess turns out.

Welcome Cyrus.

I say immature, slightly deformed Anaheim... mild. Definitely not a bell.

It looks like either a Anaheim chili or a variety called "garden salsa." If it's the latter it has similar heat to a jalapeno or Serrano pepper.

Looks kinda like a cubanelle to me.

Garden Salsa have a pointy tip...we harvested 10 pounds for the Farmer's market yesterday.
