Thanks Phill, the bag is actually white on the outside and black in the inside so I am trying to line them up when the sung goes down soem still get some light. Plus I think it may meant to keep the temps good. Not sure lol But they were 10 for $10 and the black bag that you see are 5 for like $20. The black one is fabric 7 Gallon and white 5 gallon vinyl. I rolled them down a bit because I was running out of mix and figure I can always ad more later.

Oh, I see! The white should help quite a lot. I got tan smart pots this year and they definitely stay cooler than the black ones, not as cheap as yours though unfortunately!

I actually wanted to make a thread about this cos I have only black pots and my flowers always drooped a lot on direct sunlight so I thought it is due to the sun on the leaves - but not at all!! It was because the roots were cooking.
So I made a white paper shields for the pots against the sun and voila, all I need is to water them a bit every morning and no drooping. Actually the excessive heat IMHO halted the growth cos now they grow like twice as fast!

So beware of that, black pots ar baaad! :)

if black pots are so bad, then why are almost all plastic pots black? though I guess one could ask why high fructose corn syrup is in everything, when we're all pretty sure it's bad for you.

Black pots will heat up more...but this is seen by many as a bonus at the beginning and end of the season. Interestingly, the temperature difference in the root-zone between black and white containers is not all that much - I'm trying to remember the test, and if I recall correctly, the difference wasn't more than 10 degrees...perhaps even less.

Beno, is there a slow-release fertilizer in the mix?

Fertilize in a week to keep that baby growin' strong. If you notice any yellowing of the leaves, make sure the mix is drying properly, and then hammer the plants with nutrients.

I am only using MG tomato water soluble plant food. The 1.5lb box. And using it at about 1/4-1/2 strength. I only did it once since planting which was less then 2 weeks ago. Now the black bags are fabric and I have same varieties in both.

Large hot Cherry, Hungarian wax, Charapita and Yellow Pequin. It will be interesting to see how they both fair in identacle conditions.
