Are my my moruga scorpion plants dead or is their hope? Help!

Hi pepper growers, I need some advice on my moruga scorpion plants. I planted them in Dec, All was going great from all the help and advice on here. Being in Arizona the heat kicked (triple digits 110) in and my plants went from pic 1 to pic 2 in a matter of days. Don't know if this is normal from the heat or did they catch something? I haven't changed anything from day one on watering and nuts. The stalks are all nice and green just no leaves, they all fell off. I put them in some shade, still didn't help. Should I just chuck them out or is their hope for them? any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is the roots got superheated. Are you shielding those black containers? Black containers are heat magnets.
That is what I'm guessing what happened. I'm in So. Cal and have shielded my containers with plywood and mulch. This has helped greatly.

Guessing your right Stoney, they were fine untill the hot weather came. Still cant believe how fast it happen. I was only gone 4 days and they were in partial shade. I thought someone played a prank on me and actually cut them off lol. Didn't realize these plants were so sensitive to heat, its either to hot or to cold for them, no happy medium here in AZ. Oh well im off to go shield the pots and hopefully that will help. Thanks for the fast reply Stoney

They should bounce back. I think they just got super stressed and dropped all their leaves/flowers.
Put some mulch also around the base of the plants...that will further help too. Keep us posted!

Is the mix moist?

Soil is moist but not sopping wet though. I was always worried about over watering but maybe with the heat I should try a bit more H2o.
