Sounds like normal orchid mix. FWIW, it takes forever to break down. Orchids stay happy for years in it.

I use MG Orchid mix but not the coarse blend. In the regular MG Orchid mix the bark is small almost too small but I make up for it when I add more perlite to the mix as well as MG organic choice. It does my plants great.

Not sure if the coarse blend would be good or not, have not used it and sounds like I would not.

Can you post a pic of what it looks like?

I didn't want the coarse, but that's all they had. No pic - I picked out the broom handles and used the rest.

Did you mix anything else with it? I use MG Organic choice that may help.

Coarse is not the way to go....
I don't even use coarse Orchid Mix for my orchids! ha!
With "Orchid bark," it's fine-grade or nothin'.

You can crush them into smaller pieces with a hammer or mallet. !!!
