Looks like a Hungarian wax or banana pepper. you'll be able to tell when you tase it.. typically banana peppers are mild while Hungarian wax peppers are a bit hotter.

They are best eaten when light green and large.

Sure looks like a Tabasco to me.

Agreed with most of the above, Thai/Asian Cap. annuums or possibly some Cap. frutescens/tabasco variety.

But definitely not hungarian wax or banana ;)

After the pods have matured and developed some more, you can do some google image seaches to compare them.

Doesn't look exactly like a Tabasco. The Leaves looks thicker and the pods look a little long in 0x0is0's photo, but my plants have never had much sun.

Found a photo I posted to the old Hot Pepper gallery in 2006 for comparison.

Peppers are usually small and narrow, not a little chubby like some of the pictures.

Looks like a thai to me also. The black-- is it on just part of the pepper and possibly the side that gets most of the sun? if so, just a bit of sunburn. Shouldn't affect them at all.

@0x0is0 Looks like Hungarian Hot Wax to me, depending on pepper size (they can get quite long). Pretty sure the color is sunburn. HHW turn orange, then red. If it is indeed HHW, I'd pick them light green as previously suggested, and pickle, like Jalapeno. Great pepper.
