Black scorpion tongue?..should turn red when ripe

I never saw that species in my research ..the flower seems to match closely.

did the seed come from edymnion looks like it could be a Numex halloween the pods will start out like that then goto orange if it is ...

Too many varieties look similar.
Black Scorpion Tongue are different shaped pods,almost Hanbanero looking,pendant pods also.
BUT Black Prince,Aussie Black,Pimente De Nyde are similar along with a LOT of other ornamentals.
For a more common variety I'd check out Black Prince and maybe a few of the purple or Variagated leafed peppers that put out purple pods as a color stage.
All but Piment De Nyde are red when ripe that I know about.
Yours looks C.Annuum.
Pimenta De Nyde is usually a Chinense though some say it is an Annuum cross-Annuum like your plant.

For common stuff,I'd guess Black Prince.
I don't know what the buds for Holoween or other stuff look like...

smokemaster i agree some more info is needed .....where did the seed come from ? myself i know before sewing a seed what it is supposed to be if your seed was harvested from a OP site it could be near anything .....or something there is no name for yet (smile)

By what I have found out the original plant was a chocolate habanero. Do they have any similarities or did I just get some very odd crossbreed.

It's definitely not a chocolate habanero.

I ordered the 7 pot collection from old barn nursery and they sent me black scorpion tongue seeds.I planted one just to see..as soon as seed sprouted it was purple..then grew to speckled green and purple leaves and now has green leaves with purple stems...pretty cool looking..not sure how hot it is yet..any how good luck and hope u can I'd it.
