Normal? No. Rare? Yes. Nothing to worry about though. Has happened to most growers on more than one occasion, but not once have I heard it affected the plant whatsoever.

smooth43, the first set of "leaves" are not leaves, they are cotyledons - simple stand-ins for leaves.

The second and later sets are true leaves. When the seedling sets true leaves it uses them as its primary source of energy. Until you see one or two sets of true leaves, think of the seedling as a little baby plant - it is still fragile.
