Nice Rick. Love the purple colour. Are all the pods coming in like the one in the 3rd shot? If so, it's looks more Naga to me, not as long and pimpley as a Bhut. So they ripen red?
I'm growing a chocolate Bhut this year but I think I got dud seed. They are going green to red. The pods are coming shorter than regular Bhut and pretty smooth. I'm letting them go to see if the transition to brown.
Hey now, I have a legit purple bhut jolokia plant right now!
Granted, thats because its got a suntan on it, but thats not the point. I could put that up on ebay for $5 a seed and no one would ever know its just a regular old red bhut!
It's been a few weeks since I took the pics Bill, but I think most pods were looking alike, and not particularly Bhutish. Still waiting to see, but yes, they're supposed to ripen to red.
I've grown most colors of the bhut, including a chocolate, but the best looking/tasting bhut I've grown was a red from JF seed stock. Awesome plant.
But, like I said originally, this is a very attractive plant and well worth growing, if only for ornamental qualities. I don't really care what anybody wants to call it. *smile*
