That's pretty late. I sprouted mine in mid May and they are still just blooming (no peppers yet). It probably depends on which part of California you are in. Worst case, you'll have a great plant to over-winter. :)

Agreed with GatorDave. If you are in SoCal where you have perpetual summer, you are good. If you have 4 seasons, then you will have to research "overwintering peppers" if you want to see some ripe fruit.

Doesn't really matter what part of California you're in. if the frost doesn't get it, the cooler night temps and the diminished sunlight will surely slow it down. Not to mention that winter pods are notorious for losing their heat, even if you were to get ripened pods in January.

Look into overwintering them and/or starting fresh indoors, under lights in the early winter.

I started my reapers in January here in the bay, and Im just getting my first pods to ripen up. So overwintering may be the best option for the late start. At least next season you will have an early harvest.
