unhabby habanero plant

Hey guys,

Got this plant just at the end of autumn and t had about 15 peppers on it. It was soon attacked by possums and has never quite recovered over the winter period.

Have repotted it, and only watered once a week, max. Fertilised about a month ago when noticed the leaves were looking funny, going brown and crunchy - but it hasn't picked back up at all.

We pruned it up today, coming into Spring and have noticed now the stems appear to be splitting.

Does anyone know what we can do to keep him happy?

The last pic link provided was the better pic to show the stem split. I would consider Verticillium wilt as this does cause stem splitting. Also high winds is another possibility. I would tend to lean towards Verticillium wilt since you mentioned a possum attacked the plant and as they dig for food/grubs and such could have had the Verticillium wilt disease from soil on their nails and transferred to the pepper plant soil. Hope this helps.
