It was labeled Chili de Arbol but I was pretty sure that was wrong. Now I'm pretty sure it's some sort of Thai pepper.
The pods are about 2" long, in clusters of 3 to 6. The pod clusters grow upright instead of dangling down.
I'm not sure exactly what it is but I don't much care for it. It's stupid hot, then fades, and has no actual flavor of its own. Unfortunately it has thus far been the most prolific of my hot pepper plants, so there's a ton of it in the freezer, LOL!
Then I have another pepper that was labeled as one of the orange Bells but it is definitely not any sort of Bell ... I'll try to remember to get some pictures tomorrow, but at this point I have no idea whether its a hot or a sweet pepper, or something in between.
So what "surprises" have y'all ended up with this year?
