I have one, as you have described.
It is called SANGRIA.

Mine is shown in the following photo.

It is an ornamental purple peppers. I have had ones with dark leaves and also ones with variagated leaves. The peppers start out purple and then change to orange and then red. Very colorful and fun plant.

The peppers are extremely hot and attractive in a vinegar.

It is likely a Numex Twilight and the peppers will eventually changed to yellow, orange and then red with some other variations/combinations mixed in.
Here is what my Twilight looked like last year near the end of the season. Do your "purple" pods look like the ones on this plant?

Bruce & Pam are correct it is a NuMex Halloween they will go from purple to orange its the 2nd generation Of Edymion's original plant

Thanx guys, I ate the one pepper that was on it. No heat. Now I know to let them change color. It is a beautiful plant and a slow grower. it should do well sitting in a window all winter. We are looking at our first real fall cool down by the end of the week. Calling for a high of 61 Friday.

wow, 61 on friday huh? it was 93 here today. with regards to setting more pods, I'm not sure which one is worse.
