Hmmmm, well I was thinking something like Chilly chile or Medusa, but those are said to be "hot"...guess I was misremembering a mild pepper that looked similar.

Medusa is sweet...though it occasionally has a hot one, it's mostly non-pungent...and it does look a lot like Medusa.

Btw, I've seen a lot of variation in Medusa over the years. What started as a long/thin-leaved, dark colored leaf pepper plant has been showing up a lot more with wider leaves and green colored (rather than very dark green) leaves.

almost all peppers are edible.
If the tag does not say anything to the contrary, it should be edible.
Some argue that the reason they might not be edible maybe that they are sprayed with some chemical. Even then, after sometime the effect of pesticide must be gone. Then I dont see why anybody would want to spray a pepper plant with some dangerous harsh chemical !!!

unless I'm mistaken, peppers are labeled "ornamental" to signify that their pods grow upright, as opposed to "medallion" where they hang downward. it has no bearing on whether they can be eaten. heck, some may try to say that my bhuts are inedible, because THEY can't eat them.

If the grower is a strictly a grower of ornamental plants... pretty flowers, cute peppers, etc. not intended for human consumption, they are free to use strong pesticides to control infestations.

If you don't know that it was grown under conditions safe for human consumption, it's best to err on the side of caution and assume the wrath of Dupont or Monsanto was unleashed on the plants to control white fly, aphids, mites etc. etc.
