Hey, isn't it kinda late for hornworms?

I got a visitor on my anaheim, which has been a disappointment anyway so no great loss. The wasps nailed him good so I just left him there as an object lesson to other would-be marauders. (The deer apparently took the lesson as I watched them graze right on past my plants this morning.)

The thing is, though, we're in the second week of September so there is only about a week of Summer left. Isn't is awfully late for a hornworm to show his horny little butt?

They lay eggs heavily in Aug/Early Sept. here in NC, so I can imagine it's not that out of the ordinary in GA even if you haven't experienced it before.

We get 2+ generations a year here...the earlier infestation is generally heavier and more damaging. A lot of the later generations lead to the overwintering pupal hornworms.

Probably the same here. I get a few every year, but never this late. Last year the wasps nailed the three (four?) I saw, and this year there's only the one.
